We are in the
midst of a total revolution in the both information technology and the business
world. The past five years have left
all of us gasping as we try to adjust to changes that few if any could
anticipate. The changes expected over
the next few years are equally as challenging.
For example, Gordon Moore, one of the founders of Intel, postulated that
computing power doubles every eighteen months while the cost remains constant. Consider what that means… What kind of computing power will be
available 10 years from now? It will
quite literally dwarf what we have now.
With the intensity
of change come both challenge and opportunity.
Organizations that recognize the speed and complexity of change will
have the opportunity to become more competitive. Organizations that hide from change will disappear. Creativity is driving new uses for
technology and creative changes in products and customer relations. The need to remain competitive in this
environment calls for new strategies and forward-looking management.
This course is
offered with those challenges in mind.
Before coming to the course, look through some of the following
materials on the Internet. They will
give you food for thought as we focus on the impact of technology.
