Career overview

Richard Scudder served as Associate Dean of Graduate Studies for the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver, with responsibility for admissions, student services, career services, MBA programs and multiple specialized master's degrees. He guided development of the Professional MBA and work on an international executive program.

He joined the University of Denver in 1982 as a Professor of Management. He co-founded the Department of Management Information Systems. Later he served as the Vice Chancellor of Information Technology. In that role, he led development of the University's information-technology vision and planning for administrative and educational technology. He later chaired the Information Technology and Electronic Commerce department, the Statistics Department, and helped found the Master of Science in Business Intelligence.

Consulting & professional education

For more than twenty years, Dr. Scudder consulted with public and private organizations on information-systems metrics, software-development procedures, systems-development life cycles and database systems.

He developed and presented seminars in electronic commerce, information-technology strategy, project management, project leadership, project risk, estimating and scheduling. His international seminar work included programs in China, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Guatemala and Ecuador.

Jefferson County historical leadership

A member of the Jefferson County Historical Commission since 2017, Richard has served as Chair, Vice Chair, and Chair of the Landmarks and Preservation Committee.

He designed and developed the JCHC YouTube channel and has created and posted dozens of videos on Jefferson County history.
